Dog Friendly Autistic Adult Networking & Fundraising Event

#auties it’s official, we have partnered with @four_dogs_brewing to host FREE dog friendly, inclusive, accessible networking opportunities for the autistic community. We will ensure that the event is sensory sensitive and welcoming to all. If you do not own a dog it’s a good place to get some puppy cuddles.

As this venue is dog friendly outside & inside there is no kitchen so you will have to bring your own food and snacks, you are also responsible for your own drinks and transportation.

AUTISM FOR LIFE FOUNDATION'S AUTISM IDENTIFICATION CARD

created by the autistic community for the autistic community

Benefits of Autism Identification Cards include:
Improved Community Awareness and Understanding: An autism identification card can contribute to increased acceptance, awareness, integration, and understanding of autism within the community. Leading to greater empathy and acceptance facilitating a healthier diverse, and inclusive community and overall economy by reducing stigma and misconceptions.
Enhanced Communication with Law Enforcement and First Responders: In emergency situations, autistic individuals may face challenges of various sorts, an identification card can help first responders quickly identify someone is autistic and adapt their approach, accordingly, ensuring a safer and more effective response.

Personalized Support in Public Spaces: Retail and Public Spaces: Businesses and public spaces may develop strategies to better serve individuals with autism, such as providing quiet areas, sensory-friendly environments, or additional assistance when needed.

Fostering a Sense of Personal Safety and Security: Autistic individuals and their families feel more safe and secure knowing that there is a tangible way to communicate their unique needs to others in the community.

Facilitated Access to Support Services: Will help facilitate access to support services and accommodations for autistic individuals. This might include special considerations in academic, employment, social services, and public spaces.

Community Inclusion: The card will contribute to the creation of a more inclusive community by encouraging understanding and support for the autistic spectrum. Our imitative will stimulate community initiatives to make public spaces more accessible and accommodating strengthening our local community and small businesses.

Education and Training Opportunities: The introduction of identification cards will prompt educational programs aimed at training community members, including educators, employers, and service providers, on how to interact effectively with autistic individuals.

Preventing Misunderstandings and Misinterpretations: An identification card will help prevent misunderstandings and misinterpretations of autistic individuals and the human spectrum as a whole.

Autistiphobia in Alberta

The AFLF stands in solidarity with the Hawthorn family as they process & grieve their experience of #policebrutality with #alberta

Our foundations wish is that one day #neurotypicalswill not attack, shame, and/or violently harass #autistics there is no reason why someone expressing their play as “suspicious”

If you can, please rally for Ryley in Saint Albert, Alberta, an innocent child who was playing in the playground as he should be. A playground has always and will forever be a secured place for the innocent to explore, discover, and grow!

A playground should not be a death sentence and/or criminal record. Please read the full story published by the @edmontonjournal
